Educational Event & Free Electronics Collection and Recycling

Date:  Tuesday, December 6, 2011
Time:  5:30 - 7:00 PM
Location: boocoo - 1823 Church Street, Evanston, IL 60201  •  847.864.8164

Details:

Do You Have Unwanted Electronics?
BASE will be sponsoring a free electronics collection. Please bring your unwanted electronics and computer equipment. See list below of acceptable items. Unload your items into a waiting truck and then join us inside for networking and delicious food provided by boocoo café. We will also have beer, wine, and other beverages available. Our main discussion on electronics recycling will be led by PC Rebuilders & Recyclers (PCRR*), with whom we are partnering for this event. They will talk about the importance of recycling these items, their process steps, how they work with schools, and how businesses can schedule future pick-ups and drop-offs.

Do You Have A Large Scale Pick-Up?
If your business has too many items to bring to us, we will come to you. During the afternoon of our event, the truck will be making a few larger scale pick-ups. If you are interested, please send us a note by sending an email. Let us know an estimate of the quantity and types of items you need picked up. We can only accommodate a few businesses for this extra service, so please contact us quickly.

*PCRR is the home of the Computers for Schools Program. They refurbish retired equipment and make it available to schools, non-profits, and the homes of children at risk. Through refurbishment and reuse, their goal is to bridge the digital divide and promote environmental responsibility.  They create a best-use scenario for each piece of used equipment, while also offering protection from data disclosure and regulatory risk.  All hard drives they receive go through their fully verifiable data destruction process. PCRR is Chicago’s largest computer refurbisher. In the last 10 years they have refurbished over 50,000 computers! If the equipment is too old to be reused, they harvest it for the parts that can be used and then thoughtfully recycle what remains. For more information visit their website: www.pcrr.com
